Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is less than three weeks away.
One month from now? Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. It begins sundown, October1st and is the holiest day in Judaism, a time to fast, to pray, and to seek forgiveness and reconciliation with G_d.*

I loved going to Yom Kippur services. Found solace there.

* Writing “G_d” instead of God is a fairly recent custom in America, a sign of respect, from an interpretation of the commandment in Deuteronomy 12:3-4: that interprets as: Do not erase or destroy God’s name and avoid writing it
