I am up in Traverse City, Michigan. I am in love with this town. Of course, it is not January or February. Brutal.
My best bud from college lives up here now, except for the winter months. She and her husband were visiting their previous hometown when they received the devastating news that he has a glioblastoma, a fast-growing and aggressive brain tumor. Weeks and weeks of intense treatment in Chicago.
Tony and I are in a cottage about an hour southeast from Traverse City for a few weeks. I came up to spend a few days with my buds, a time I will never forget. Mary and I have been staying up late talking. Laughing about everything from a chilling night in college with a Ouija board to my ‘last hurrah’ with the one that broke my college heart.
Today they took me on a convertible drive up Old Mission Peninsula. Heaven. Soft breezes and sunshine.
Fifty years of friendship. Yikes.
