Not on the top of my bucket list but nevertheless on the list was my wish to visit my Russian ancestors’ homeplaces–where Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus intersect. Now this will never happen, but I continue to honor my pledge to bear witness.

“We must not humiliate Russia so that the day
when the fighting stops, we can build an exit
ramp through diplomatic means,”
How dare he?
In response, a scathing post on social media from Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s foreign minister:
“Calls to avoid humiliation of Russia can only humiliate France and every other country that would call for it.”
Mr. Macron:
High school graduates in Kharkiv have gone ahead with end-of-year graduation portraits in front of their school which was destroyed by Russian bombs.
