Pristine Coral Reef Found Off Tahiti Coast

Deep in the South Pacific, scientists have explored a rare stretch of pristine corals shaped like roses off the coast of Tahiti. The reef is thought to be one of the largest found at such depths and seems untouched by climate change or human activities. NBSC News

Announcing the stunning find on Thursday, UNESCO said that divers had explored large rose-shaped corals spanning close to 2 miles long, at depths of between 100 and 200 feet.

A decade of climate breakdown saw 14 % of coral reefs vanish between 2009 and 2018, due to the continuous rise in sea temperature.
